I'm shopping for a 6600 based card at the moment, so naturally I consulted Tom's guide for some benchmarks. On reading the review "Good 3D Performance at a Middling Price: GeForce 6600 Shootout", I got a bit confused.
In the charts, the Leadtek seems to be to be the clear winner in speed, and certainly where I'm located (Melbourne, Australia) it seems to be reasonably priced. The review however firstly gave the big thumbs up to the Gigabyte (NX66T128VP) and said 'the best card' was the Gainward overall. No mention of the Leadtek whatsoever?
Can anyone help me out here? I'm confused. Does the Leadtek bite the big one but I missed something?
Gainward:
- fastest of the bunch
- most expensive
- not available in North America(where it was tested)
Leadtek
- second fastest
Gigabyte
- not the fasest
- HD output
- video input
- Silent pipe technology(no fan)
- good bundle
So basically they said that the Gigabyte was the best thing for your money if you are going to use it for, more than gaming. If you are a pure gamer then go ahead and get the Gainward if you can, and if you are willing to spend the extra money.
Hey thanks - I missed that bit about the Leadtek being second fastest. Here I can get the Leadtek and the Gigabyte for the same price ($275 AUD), so I guess the Leadtek looks promising!
