This is my first time ever building my own system, and I've spent some time looking around on Newegg trying to piece together what i want. My budget is about $3k (w/ tax and shipping) all told, and I need everything from monitor to mouse and keyboard.

I use my computer mostly for gaming, internet, chat, playing music, and I usually am doing some or all of these at once. So here is what I came up with, any suggestions for improvement are welcome. This comes to about $2900 on Newegg (w/ tax and shipping). Thanks!

Im jealous....  ....na dude your list looks good....the only thing I dont like is that mobo the overclocking sucks on it but if you arent overclocking then its fine.....The DFI lanparty is a much better board but of course a little more expensive.....The Epox EP-9NPA+ is also a good one

only thing i'd say to change is your graphics card... the BFG 7800GTX is a kIller Card and it finally just got back in stock on newegg...

I liked that motherboard personally, it looked good.. But if your not gonna use SLI maybe get something that doesn't have it might save ya some money.

and also maybe take a look at a SATA burner... get rid of them ugly IDE's..

other then that killer system, im building my next big boy out of the 4800+ i can't wait..

Good Luck.

I've only found one SATA DVD burner (Plextor), and it's price and performance were just insanly unproportional when compared to IDE drives.

keep it under 3500$
and make sure exactly everything i want i get... last time i got diff stuff cause certain stuff was on backorder and i was 2 impatient.
