170 vs. 146

Probably a dumb question...Would there be any benefit in going with a dual core Opteron (939) for a home entertainment pc? Or, is the wiser investment (half the $$$) a single core 146 (939)? The main multi-tasking I would do is internet/word programs while watching tv.

i'd honestly say save the money and go with the single 939.. you don't need much for internet and office apps... lol you can probley get away with 512mb and an old 1Ghz cpu...

Appreciate the reply. That's what I've done...aside from probable waste of money, I was also thinking a dual-core would run somewhat hotter then a single-core.

not sure those facts, but if your not OC'ing you should be fine with the retail hsf.
