Seeking hard drive and general hardware diagnostic software.

Need some good diagnostic software that I can run on my hard drive, and on the rest of my system too. Since the computer doesn't boot it would of course be nice if the software can be run from a cd, dvd or floppy disk.

Hope you can point me in the right direction...

You should try the Ultimate Boot CD. Far as I know it's completely legal, unlike the one made by Hiren.
