Hi,

I wanna know something very important about nForce 4 SLI Mode. I got a eVGA 6800 Ultra 256MB PCI-E and i would like to buy a eVGA 7800 GTX 256MB PCI-E. Can i put this to card in sli mode?? Or it required obligatory 2 cards of the same kind???

Thanx you for helping me.

You must have two cards that use the same chipset to run in SLI mode. That means either 2x6800 Ultra cards, 2x6800GT cards, 2x7800GTX, etc.

However, the lastest set of drivers (ForceWare 81.85), you don't need to neccessarily match vendor. Thus, you could conceivable match a BFG 7800GTX with a eVGA 7800GTX, or something similar. However, I wouldn't recommend doing this either. Matching cards exactly, and using the SLI bridge is the best way to achieve optimal performance.

if you buy a eVGA 7800 GTX 256MB PCI-E you definitely do not need 2 sli cards ! (depending if you want to render the complete human genome in less than a mirco sec...)

it Rock's all by itself !

I personally think it is a waste of money to buy two low end cards to only gain a little bit of extra rendering power, I didn't like my 2x6800 (not GT or ultra) setup, but the drivers were glitchier back then; i think it is better now. I still have my SLI board but I run a single 7800 GT...I wonder if I'll ever get another one or buy another single card
