Maybe Bad Ram

I just bought a new computer it is an HP a1250n and i figured i would take a cheap way out and but that PC and then just upgrade a few things. well here is my problem...
I bought 3 things
1st was new memory
CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit System Memory

the next was the Video card
XFX PVT70GUDF7 Geforce 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail

finally was a HD
Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM

ok now to the problem i play a varity of game first being NHL2k6 and while playing this the game starts running choppy as anything while playing its like all of a sudden. the reason i think it is the memory is because that was the first piece i got and installed. I bought the ATI x700 that day as well but the problem was it was running choppy so i thought it was the ATI vid card that was bad so i took it back and bought the XFX card. well i haven't installed the old memory to see if that is the problem but if anybody can help me with some ideas or questions please ask i will check back frequently while sitting here at work.

More about maybe
  1. Firstly - Bad memory causes program / system crashes. If you feel like it, run a program called memtest86 (Ram tester) but I don't think the RAM is the source of your problem.

From what it sounds like, your describing a low framerate from having your game settings too high.

No offense, you don't sound too well versed in computing - Make sure your BIOS settings (FSB, Multiplier etc) are running at full speed as changing RAM may have made them default back to failsafe settings.

Post full PC specs too!
  2. well i may have not given all the information i have checked the Bios settings and they all seem fine After a fresh reboot the game plays fine for about 10-15 min and then it starts acting up with jumps in the video in the game. and the temp of the computer stays around 95 degrees idle and 100-105 full load

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
    Windows XP Media Center
    2.0GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM
    74GB 10000rpm hard drive SATA
    250GB 7200rpm hard drive SATA
    Double-layer DVD±R/RW drive
    DVD-ROM drive

sry don't kow the MB make or anything right now if needed will post it later.

    Anything else needed?
