streaming mp3 on ipaq 22xx and Sandisk SD wifi combo

I have a ipaq 22xx series pda, with a Sandisk wifi 256mb combo card. I
also have a netgear wgr614 router, and a desktop system with an SMC PCI
802.1b card.

I can connect my ipaq to the wireless network, and browse the internet.
But, I've tried streaming mp3s from my desktop to my ipaq, and when I
do the songs always skip, as though the connection either isn't fast
enough, or the processor on the ipaq can't keep up. I am using
GSPlayer.

I performed some rudimentary benchmarking on the ipaq wireless
connection by copying files from the desktop to the main memory of the
ipaq, and I only get 30k/s transfer rates. That seems very slow. When I
move files from my desktop to my wireless laptop, I get about 300k/s.

Right now I'm thinking the Sandisk card has terrible performance, but I
would think reports of this would be widespread. Does anyone have a
similiar configuration who could comment on their performance?
