I have a wireless setup in my office that works well. When I go
outside and sit onthe patio, I can see the wireless network and the
signal strength is excellent, but I can not connect. If I explicitly
tell the adapted to connect (and enter my WEP key info), it puts up the
usual "Connecting..." dialog for a minute or so. When the dialog goes
away, I have no connection.

It seems like the windows are blocking some vital part of the signal,
so even though my card can see the signal, it can't connect. Has
anyone else seen behavior like this?

Connect to what? Are you sure you see the same router as in your office?
