Laptop upgrade possibility?

is it feasible to buy a broken laptop (faulty screen for eg) and stick its motherboard in my working but old laptop?

If they fit, yes its possible. Unless I knew they both use the same mobo I would stick to the same model for compatibility. The act of dismantling a laptop is more than I want to tackle (I tried once a few years ago and the laptop never worked again - but it was already broken so no loss on my part), but if you're up for it, it can be done.
