well my birthday AND christmas are coming up and im going to seize the moment to upgrade my current system.

i found a couple of geforce 6600gt AGP for very low prices, but i would like to know, which version is the best.

Gainward GeForce AGP 6600-GT 128Mb DDR ; Golden Sample € 168.80

Gigabyte GeForce AGP 6600-GT 128Mb DDR ; TvOut/ DVI € 187.00

XFX GeForce AGP 6600-GT 128Mb DDR3 ; TvOut/ 2xDVI € 167.00

then i found some better ones (ati X800) but the prices are higher:

PowerColor ATI Radeon AGP X800PRO 256Mb DDR3; TvOut/ DVI € 259.00

Sapphire ATI Radeon AGP X800GT 256Mb DDR3; TvOut/DVI € 219.00

im worried about buying them, because my brother bought the gainward 6600gt AGP one and his power supply ended up fryed (a 460watt power supply) and i just have about 350watt power supply (but he does have 2 harddisks 2 hardrives and some extra fans and the 6600gt connected to it)

p.s. my pc is rather old and i think that my current graphic card may be a PCI 2.1 model .... wouldnt that mean that i also need a new motherboard to be able to use the AGP or PCI-E graphic cards?[/b]

I like XFX. I was going to reccomend the Sapphire x800 GTO2 because of it's amazing overclocking abilties but since you only have a 350W PS forget it. I'd go with XFX. BFG is also very good if you have the option as they overclock the card for you and give you a lifetime warranty! Good deal is what I see.

I think I would lean towards XFX myself.
But if you are running AMD, you might get by with that X800 especially if you have truly a quality 350 watt PSU, but it would be marginal at best...

do you have BFG cards available to you?

Reply to Coops07

Yes I do, but I am satified with my X800XT-PE I have had for the past year and a half, thank you very much.

thanks for the answers

no i dont ahve any BFG cards available to me, i didnt even ever heard of them...

i actually had the impression XFX is bad, but if you say its good, then im most likely going to get that one!

also about my PCI problem, i might actually have an AGP slot but have a geforce fx 5200 PCI card ... how can i look up what kind of slots i have without having to open my pc?

XFX and BFG have the best warrantys and both come overclocked out of the box. If your aiming for a Nvidia based gpu then these two manufacturers are the best choices.

Easy as 1-2-3

1 go to www.lavalys.com

2 download and install free everest home edition

3 Now you will know mostly everything about you're rig...

Good luck with the upgrade....

actually i had a very similar tool (Actually almost the same) AIDA32 which just wasnt very clarifying if i had AGP (And which version) or PCI (also it was really old... 23-02-2004)

this one definately says AGP8X, which means you shouldnt always believe what windows tells you (well actually you would know that anyways)

so XFX GeForce AGP 6600-GT 128Mb DDR3 it is, though im still thinking about buying a new power supply, as mine is certainly not a quality product!

just heard my brothers motherboard is fryed too...damn...

yea first off, RichPLS what are you sitting at your computer waiting for someone to message you? and crrash, BFG stands for Big Mofoing Gun. Basically they are a gamers video card company. I like them and XFX for Nvidia cards. Gigabyte is ok and that other company I haven't even heard of. Ur making a good choice with the XFX 6600, u wont be dissapointed
