My current rig is as follows:

AMD Athlon 64Fx-53
HIS Excalibur X800 XT PE with IceQ II Cooling
Asus A8V Deluxe VIA K8T800 Pro Chipset ATX AMD MB
1 Gig of OCZ 3500 unbuffered Ram
2 Western Digital 74 Gig Raptors in Raid 1
DVD ASUS 16X DVD
DVD+/-RW PLEXTOR|PX-712A
CPU FAN Thermaltake Silentboost K8
Cooler Master Wave Master Case
Antec NeoPower 480 Watt PSU
SB Audigy 2Z Platinum Sound Card
Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW 20.1 Wide Flat Panel

While I like the Raptors I'm fast running out of room in Raid 0 and I'm wondering how I can add a harddrive just for storage. Any information would be greatly appreciated

... but u said it's raid 1

so... if it IS raid 1 then set it to raid 0?

if it IS raid 0 instead of raid 1...
I would lean on getting a 300-400 GB SATA drive to do as a separate storage-only entity (then to get another one to raid 0 of that to get 600 to 800 GB, since I assume most MB can do more than 1 raid arrays).

Yes, you can add another drive, probably at least two more SATA and two more IDE if they are not already being used for DVD, etc...

Sorry, raid1 only 74 gigs available as the other is for back up. I could add onother drive for storage but how do I get things moved to it and how would the computer recognise it? I'm scared to mess up my otherwise fine running rig.

Plug it in....your computer would read it as Drive "?" meaning the next letter that is available....you can change it to whatever unused letter you want.

Click on my computer icon, then it will show up as a C drive and Q drive or whatever. it will be blank. My advise is to create 5-10 folders to organize evertying you put in there.

have fun with your new HDD.
I have 500GB and i have run out of room 4times and had to burn to DVD's
I need a fatty RAID 5 server....i think 16 500Gb drives should be alright for a while. That would be about 6TB (4 redun.) But i dont have that kinda monet....boo for me.
