Anyone experienced in this? I'm interested but really not sure about the whole thing... read the TG articles... meh

What will provide optimal cooling?

Do I need anything special in my comp (specs) aside from what's provided?

Does it look funky?

Will I get bragging rights to my nerdy friends?

If you're really into Overclocking on a serious level then you may consider W/Cing, if you get yourself a full series kit [including CPU, Chipset, GPU heatsink coolers, Water Pump, External Radiator w Cooling Fans etc.] then you can expect quite some setup time, took me over 4 hrs to set mine up, so make absolutely positive you want to go this route, cause the really good kits cost a few bucks to attain.

I'm presently not W/Cing because my cooling pump died and I had to have it replaced, and haven't decided to invest the time of setting it all back up again, but bragging rights only come when you O/C to the point you're way past what air cooling can do, and W/Cing has its limitations also and if you loose the cooling you could loose everything.

So heres your cautious post, if you develope a leak as I did [But thankfully caught it with the system unpowered] you also could loose everything !!!!!!!!!

I would inspect my system every time before I went to power it up which I never had to worry about at all with Air Cooling, I'm really not trying to discourage you just letting you know what you're getting into, water and electrical components do not get along good together, if you never have a leak you never have a problem, but it only takes 1 leak.

So when everyones glorifying how great W/Cing is, its a labor to set up, and something you constantly need to monitor, so consider this post in your planning or remember it down the road when trouble is knocking on your door.

I used and someday will reuse the WaterChill system, but there are cheaper kits out there just as good, and stay away from pushlok connectors if you can, if they are not all the way in the seating pipe they will leak.

Hope that helps! Ryan

Water cooling is a pain in the rear end I would not suggest you go that route get a very good air cooling setup. Cheaper in the long run anyways.

Wait a sec... this isn't the Cooling forum! Why did I type all that out ofr?

To get one step closer to 30k. But it'll do you no good. You need 40k, to have bragging rights over DH. Better step on it.

19" Flatscreen :)

Came free with me bed woo!

Just put in an A/C unit and keep your room at about 67F and then you won't have any problems air cooling. Plus your new bf will surely appreciate it.

Reply to Yahiko81

But I'm looking forward to having him in the heat... less clothes and stuff... ;)

Reply to CHEEZball

If you play your cards right you won't need any clothes, even in a 67 degree room.

It depends on what your trying to accomplish. Ive cooled my CPU, NB, and video card with WCing and have even gone as far as cooling the water to sub 0 temps for some huge OCs. What exactly are you trying to do?

I'm trying to not fry my computer to bits. It's not overclocked.. had to turn that down when I first discovered this problem :(

Basically, I want to spend money to save money :P

(and be hella cool... a chick with a kick ass water cooled mod comp? wrawr!!)

Cheapest thing to do is to buy a small refridgerator. Put your computer in there, you're good to go. Plus, you have a place to store your booze and frozen hot pockets.

ya :P and either get hella condensation and fry my comp that way (hmm water cooling safer?? :P ) or fry the fridge itself by burning out the motor...

and my GOD I haven't had a pizza pop in YEARS!

Reply to CHEEZball

I actually bought a 5 cubic' freezer and used it to chill my liquid. With some effort it would get the temps down close to 0 and maintain those temps even though some will say im full of crap. I dont think that I would go to that much trouble again, but when I was hurt and couldnt work it gave me something to do. At the time, I had one of the fastest socket 775 systems out there. In fact, I dare say that I had the fastest 775 on water.

You can put stuff in the fridge to remove the humidity.. how often do you plan on opening the thing up? Come on now.. Close it up, be done with it.. The fridge will run you about $100.. but if you use a freezer.. then you don't have to worry about it..
Put those little silicon thingies in there that absorb water.. you're good to go.

it will be open 24/7...y'know... with wires and stuff coming out of it...

I wouldn't call toys power tools... the day a vibrator can drill a hole in a wall... well I dunno

You could try the vegetable oil solution Tom's ran an article on. That'd be fun. If it screwed up, you'd have a deep fryer.

Water cooling really isn't that hard as long as you put some effort into doing it right. Make sure it's sealed properly, do your tests, and take your time.

Most of the problems with water cooling come from people rushing and not really taking the time to let the sealants seal, not fully checking for leaks, etc. The people who tend to have problems are the retard gamers who shower during server maintanence only.

I'd only worry about cooling your CPU. Your GPU probably is fine and you can always add that on later.
