AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3700BNBOX - Retail

Is the $70 price difference worth it?

Or Would that be better spent upgrading one of these?

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

Is that motherboard a bad choice? I want futureproofing as much as possible so the dual core the sli and the Sata II are all attractive features.

For the Extra 70 bucks you get an additional 512mb of L2 cache that wont mean crap unless you do alot of encoding. Forget the stock clocks speeds, they both have about the same avg OC clocks but the Venice does have a high potential. I was pondering the same thing and eventually decided to get the venice 3200 and use the extra cash for the 7800gtx.

That ASUS mobo is good as long as you dont plan on doing any OCing. Otherwise the DFI LanParty NF4 is a much better choice with some OCZ RAM.
