Is it worth to wait for the dual processors from intel with hyperthreading technology rather than bu

I have been out of the loop for a while regarding hardware.

I have noticed that the 64-bit machines are starting to show up everywhere.

I have a few questions, they span several topics, but I thought to post it here.

1) What is the best motherboard to purchase these days for a 4 cpu slot 64 bit board. Or possible just a 2 cpu slot 64 bit board?

2) Can the new dual processors from AMD and the upcoming dual processors from intel be placed one in each regular socket, such that a 4 cpu board could hold 4 of the dual processors? And dual cpu boards can hold two dual processors?

3) How is the support from Linux and Java on these new CPUS, and for 4 cpu slot boards and 2 cpu slot boards?

Thanks!

Don't know 1 or 3, but 2 is: Definitely. They're even talking about quad-core processors in the future (2007?)... so that means 8 cores in a 2-socket board.
