Raid and PromiseFastrack Drivers necessary?

I have been setting up or reinstalling Windows XP for Abit V20 and and ASUS A8V and I only use one hard drive, mostly on Primary IDE but lately on SATA for the V20's.
Should I install the RAID and/ or Promise Fastrack controller drivers that come with the motherboard CD in this kind of set up, or do you only need these drivers if you are using a raid drive set up (and whatever the fastrack controller does?)

Are there any benefits to installing them - Windows XP places a yellow x across raid in the Device Manager if you do not.

Don't install them and disable RAID in BIOS if you haven't already done so.
