Hello
I have a Asus P4PE, P-4 845 CPU, Gigabyte 6600GT, Samsung 710n-2 LCD, 512mb ram, etc. Weak point is probably 250watt PSU that came w/ case. This PC was built at mall and came w/ 5200fx card originally.

Since I added the card and an A-open DVD player, I have occasional freeze-ups. Also, and more importantly, the image isn't as clear as it used to be. I know it's the PC and not the monitor because my brother PC's with a mx440 card is much clearer.

Monitor is new and top rated. I've tried adjusting the course & fine refinement on it. I've done the "clear text" command (where ever it is), but it didn't help the over all image. I've updated drivers to Omega 6693. fps got better on 3Dmark03, but image didn't. Was I just mistaken putting a 8xAGP card in a 4xAGP board? Any idea's?
Thanks Russ

No a 8x card in a 4x board is supposed to work well.

Two thoughts:
1) That really is a crappy power supply you've got there. :-p It's probably the cause of your lock ups.
2) The video being fuzzy might be something as simple as your screen resolution not being set to the native resolution of the monitor. And are you using a dsub cable or a dvi cable?

No it's set to native, 1280x1024, I remember someone suggesting that earlier.

Dsub standard 15 pin. That's all it will accept, "Input Video Signal: Analog RGB".

1. the lockups could be caused by:
A: Your really crappy power suplly not having enough power to power your system.

B: You could have Bad ram, goto majorgeeks website and download a ram checker.

C: CPU could be overheating just double check.

D: Scan you harddrive for errors with scandisk just to make sure everything is ok there.

2. Fuzzy screen is going to be exactly what slvr_phoenix siad, have you set the res to the correct setting for the lcd-tft monitor? what is you current res set at? if its 800x600 that would deffinatly be wrong.

it only freezes once every other week or so, so not a biggy, but will definately get a bigger psu soon.

res is set at native, 1280x1024

you have me stumped about the connection are you using the dvi connection and turn AA and AS off in the drivers option and see if it improves.

All that I can think of then is either to try a different refresh rate or try using your monitor's calibration tools.
