Can't find the domain PDC.

Our interstate office runs a Win2003 PDC (range 172.16.4.x). Here, we run a
WindowsNT workstation on a network with another domain setup (range
192.168.1.x). I do not want to attach this workstation to the local domain,
but the interstate domain.

I've setup the workstation to DHCP (taken from the local WinNT4 server), and
hard-coded the DNS to 172.16.4.24 & 172.16.4.26

When I try to "move" the workstation from the local (DAVDOM) to the
interstate (GAZAL) domain, it tells me it can't find the PDC. Interestingly,
when I start Outlook2K, which is setup to access the Exchange2003 server
(which is interstate), I get the domain login dialog (Username, Domain,
Password). I fill in the correct details for the interstate domain and it
gets thru OK. BTW, Outlook uses the server name to access the interstate
Exchange server, so DNS must be working, right?

The connection b/w the offices is an SHDSL 512K direct connection, no
internet involved. It uses two routers at each end, the local end is a Cisco
800.

How can I get the workstation to "see" the PDC on the interstate domain?

Remove the NT workstation from the existing domain by making it part of a
workgroup...reboot.
Then try to add it to the domain in question and checking "Add computer to
domain" box (or something like that).
Then you will need administrator username and password to add it to the
domain.
The DNS settings will need to be set up to correctly see the 2003 domain
controller.

Give that a whirl.
