They wont drop.
They only make a single speed grade at once.
They are the premium top of the range cpu available.
Skyhigh prices come with the territory.
They even have unlocked multipliers.

oh well that goes without saying.

But x2 prices droped.. and so has various other hardware devices. the 55's been out for a decent amount of time and it didn't even budge.

just wondering if anyone heard or knew of anything.

The X2's only dropped to more appropriately match what Intel was offering. The FX line won't drop because it doesn't need to. The competing Intel processor is in the same price range, and as others said, the FX-line has the unlocked multiplier making it a technologically superior processor to the rest of their lines.

They now are making 2 FX chips. When a third comes out, they may drop the price of the 55. When Intel has a chip that can compete, the prices will come down to just below Intel's price.
