Broken MacBook Keyboard

My mom's MacBook's keyboard is broken. (ie when I push the A key caps lock comes on, Q gets pushed, and sometimes the screen darkens.) They need to use this computer for as long as possible, since they live in a remote part of Africa and wont be able to get a replacement for a while. I have found that I can use an external keyboard but the MacBook's keyboard permanently has the control key pressed down making everything a right click. Is there a way to turn off the laptop's keyboard, or fix it? She's running Mac OS X 10.6.8 don't know if that helps or not.
Thanks
