hello lads, im getting bored with my 6800 ultra doesnt overclock enough to even to see 1fps more, and i dont have enough money to buy another one for SLi. so im wondering doesnt it overclock well because it needs more voltage? or is it just because ultras are total bull. If its possible to get higher clock speeds with more voltage could you englighten me how to up the voltage. I will try about anything, but as long as there is more then 40% insurance it would work o.O. (i usually have alot of luck at this stuff ;O)
Thanks for your time
It is a fact that ultras do not overclock well. Yes if you play with voltage you **may** gain some poor boost performance. You could also roast the core or mem playing with voltage.
I would try to pumpup the core and the mem to the max at regular voltage and call it quit if i were you...6800ultra stock settings is not bad !
ya 6800ultras are already pushing the limits on the cores and memory. so your basically stuck enjoy it while you can, youll also be shortening the life of your card for that 1fps gain.
Your ultra should be fine with most games. If you have a major FPS problem and your not running it at stupidly high resolutions you may need to update your drivers.
I dont see why you'd want to overclock an ultra. I have a GT and I can't complain about my FPS performance. Granted I cant run games on 1280 res with high/ultra high and aa/af on, but I dont feel the need to spend 1200 on sli 7800's just for that added boost. Bars and going out places is more worth the money to me because the 7800's will be out dated soon enough.
