I HAVE A 400 WATT PSU AND ITS 12V LINE HAS 11A, AND HAS 20 PIN ATX POWER CORD. MY GIGABYTE 915 MOBO SUPPORTS BOTH 24 AND 20 PIN ATX POWER SUPPLY. I WILL GET A CASE LATER BCOZ MY CASE IS OLD AND NOT GOOD FOR INTEL 775 PROCESSOR. FOR NOW I AM RUNNING WITH THE CASE SIDE OPEN AND THE CPU TEMP STAYS BTN 38-41C.

I HEARD THAT U NEED ATLEAST 14A ON THE 12V LINE. IS IT OK TO RUN MY PC WITH THIS PSU?

MY SYSTEM IS-

INTEL PENTIUM 4 630
GIGABYTE GA-915G MOBO
KINGSTON 512MB PC 3200
BUILT IN VGA CARD
80 GB 7200 RPM MAXTOR
AUDIGY 2 ZS
ASUS CD ROM

First, Please! turn off the Caps Lock. It looks like you're yelling, and its hard to read. (and a number of regulars will just plain ignore someone who's yelling) [/good deed for the day]

Wow... that's so low I didn't know they made them that horrible looking.

Well, if its running now and is stable I guess it'll keep running for a while, but I wouldn't trust it long enough to read this message. I'd get something with at *LEAST* 16A on 12v.

That's a darn good CPU temp though - umm, is that idling or under 100% load? (gaming, Folding@home, Prime95, some other torture tester) Even idle that's pretty good - if loaded you must be in the Antarctic...

the system is running stable and the psu is not even hot. i think i will use this psu till i get a new case.

i have download prime95 and running the test as i write. it says it will take about an hour to finish. task manager shows about 50-55% cpu usage and the cpu temp suddenly rise from 38-40c to 48-50c in less than 2 minutes. but its staying there ( i have watched for about 10 minutes). and the noise from the cpu fan has also increased considerably.

also my p4 2.4ghz 533 bus cpu runs around 30c ( gets as low as 25c ) at no load. at full load gets about 38c. i have never seen it go over 40c.

but my compaq presario 2200 laptop( celeron 1.4ghz) runs around 50-52c normally( 48c when it was new ). when i play games on that it goes up to 60c.

It may go up 1 or 2C more over time while being tortured (after an hour or more - 10 min is short for a full 'torture test'), but that's a dam* good temp. I'm impressed - oh, you have the side panel off. Still impressive though. If you can keep it near there with the new case you won't have to worry at all.

i stopped the test and its back to 38-40c in less than 2 min. the cpu usage is now 1-4%. and the cpu fan speed is around 1750 rpm ( during the test it was around 2700 rpm) and the noise from cpu fan is low and stable now. during the test it was getting high and low ( was never stable ).

but even during the test the psu has not got hot. so i think i will stick with it for a while until i get a new case. that saves me buying an extra psu.

Thanks. :D
