Could someone please help?

After installing the geforce fx-5500, i am having an issue that after the intila windows 2000 screen, the screen goes blank as if the moniter turned off. I still hear the systems going, so I think it is still running. Once in a while, it will go into win 2000 and after a couple of minutes go to the blank screen. If I boot up in safe mode to poke around, the screen is all garbled up and unable to make out anything on it.
Can soemone please help? Been up the past 2 nights and this is driving me crazy

System
Windows 2000
dual PIII 733 mhz on intel OR840
512 RDRAM
TEKRAM SCSI with 2 SCSI hdd
DVD SCSI drive and CD ROM

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS

Splendid
Try switching up the drivers (if you haven't already done so).

If that doesn't work, I'm inclined to say that it's a compatibility issue. That OR840 is an old board and doesn't support AGP 8x. According to intel's specs, it supports up to AGP 4x and AGP Pro. The 5500 is an AGP 8x card. 8x cards are supposed to be backwards compatible w/ 4x, but this is not always the case. The other issue is your AGP slot is likely an AGP 2.0 slot while the FX-5500 is an AGP 3.0 card.

One more suggestion: try and lower hardware acceleration in video properties.

If that doesn't work, I'm afraid it's time to upgrade you motherboard, cpu, and RAM my friend.

Please read these documents thoroughly.
