939/754 Backplates

Is there a difference between the socket 939 and 754 backplates? The reason I ask is that I have a Zalman CNPS7000A hs/fan. It's an older model and doesn't have instructions for the 939. It does, however, have instructions for the 754. I eyeballed the 754 adapter and it looks like it'll fit the backplate, but I thought I'd ask to make sure before I get knee-deep into this build.

my vote is that it would work....unless you could see anything it would crush you should be fine.

I didn't even take the mobo out of the bag yet. The holes line up with the mounting screw as far as I could tell. The adapter plate is, for the most part, flat and goes on the back of the mobo. So, my guess is as long as the holes line up and AMD made no drastic changes to their backplate design, I think it'll work.

I inspected the backplate that's already on the mobo and if the threads are the same, I may not even need to use the Zalman backplate!
