I'm planning on upgrading the 1 gig of Kingston Value RAM in my current system to 2 gigs of something better. I have narrowed the candidates down to the following.

http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820145574

http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820220040

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227210

They all 3 seem to be equal, which makes it hard for me to choose. I plan on making the purchase this weekend and would like some advice from the members of this forum.

My current system:

Gigabyte GA-K8VT800
AMD 64 3000+ Clawhammer
2x512 Kingston Value Ram
LeadTek 6800Gt

Any advice on which ram to get would be appreciated.

1. I play alot of BF 2 and am getting tired of being the last person on each
map and also for want some good RAM for future upgrades.

2. Thanks for letting me know the links were messed up, its been fixed.

3. So you think the XMS would be the better choice?

lol, wanna know a little secret?

The reason you are always last to spawn isn't the RAM....think about it, a lot of other people are using 1GB as well......its a mix of yoru RAM and HDD

2GB of ram will speed up your load times SLIGHTLY, and if you bought a RAPTOR it would inscrease them slightly as well....also it has to do with your internet connection. Those are the holy trinity for loading levels in BF2.

What HDD are you using? and what background tasks do you have running when playing BF2?

The reason I'm the last one in on what seems like every map is that it takes forever to verify the data. From what I have read on many BF2 forums is that an extra gig of ram helps with this problem. I'm running 2 WD 7200 rpms drives. I 160 gig and a 40 gig.

are those drives IDE, SATA?

Personally i think a RAID-0 or a Raptor would increase load times more then 2GB of RAM.

its just amazing that people will spend $250 to make BF2 load faster....I play BF2 sometimes and i usually spawn with the crowd....I just hop in a tank and off i go.

And as you can tell i have 1GB ram, IDE drives....

If you want to load quicker its your money.....but with new ram also think about a faster HDD too....because the ONLY thing HDD's can do for your gaming is load levels faster. Which is what you want.

The drives are both IDE. Also the new ram isnt just for BF2 its also for the future upgradegrade that I plan on doing somewhere around tax time. I would love to get a couple of raptors, but I just dont really think that the money they cost is worth the amount of space they provide.

Yeah, my bad dude. You wrote Raid 0, and I was assuming you meant using 2 Raptors in Raid 0, but with the money I have laying around maybe I will get a Raptor along with the 2 gigs of RAM.

lol, yeah....if you are worried about space get two 250GB HDD's and RAID-0 them for $200

Do you know what your taxtime upgrade will be yet?

Sure where would you like me to send it to? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA not. But it was worth a try for you to ask. I'm single, so the only one I have to spend money on is me, and like one of my friends once told me, I cant take it with me when I die, so as long as I dont go under a certain amount in my bank account, I'm fine.
