Hi, just new here. I'm not sure if this is the right spot for my query. Well anyway, I have a notebook, Asus M1 series which had i have been using for more than 2 years, Windows XP and linux works just fine, until thursday last week when i started to encouter problems with the keyboard and touchpad after it was used by my colleague from the office to check on mail and other office related stuff. Touchpad no longer work, when I checked on the system properties under xp I already have a conflict with some motherboard resources on irq 12, which it never had for 2 years. Tried to run scandisk which I thought might helped, no avail. One more reboot and this time keyboard no longer works too. Disassembled the keyboard and touchpad to check for loose ribbon connection which made me feel stupid because it was working fine before it was borrowed, but still the same problem. Pulled out the XP loaded hdd and inserted the Linux loaded hdd, thought might do help isolate which is causing the problem. GUI desktop never loaded which was abnormal because I was using the said hdd 2 days before. but one thing that is bugging me is that the keyboard works on the text base of the linux OS. Decided to load the XP hdd again and do a format sacrificing all datas on it. Guess what, It didn't help either.

What do the experts think could have gone wrong, suggestions is very much welcome just to keep this thing up and running again. Thanks

Tom
