I was just wondering this about my system. My Specs are :

AMD 2600+ Sempron :(
1 gig of PC3200 RAM
X800 GTO OC'd to 550 core. (12 Pipelines, have AGP still, and wasn't able to unlock the 4 extra pipelines with a BIOS Flash :( )

I was just wondering If I should fork out the extra $$$ for a better CPU. Now take into consideration that loading times aren't a big deal to me, Gaming performance is. Also the $$$ I would need to fork for a better CPU may not be a big deal to some, but it's a pretty heafty price for me.

So my question is this: Will I see a substantial increase in FPS in games with a better CPU? Or would it be mostly a waste seeing as how I'm only interested in Gaming performance.

Games i'm currently playing:
BF 2
CSS
F.E.A.R
WoW  (Trying so hard to let go, i keep F$*($&# comming back)

It's hard to give a good answer when we dont even know if your motherboard is s754 or socketA.
Telling us the model of your motherboard would help a lot.
Would you consider overclocking?
