Hey there, you've probably noticed me asking a bunch of questions lately about a new computer. Well now I have another.
Here is the current setup I am looking to get:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0 GHz Socket 939

MOBO: DFI ULTRA-D Athlon64 FSB2000 SOCKET939 4DDR400 ATX

MEMORY: OCZ DDR Platinum 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 400MHZ 2-3-2-5

VIDEO CARD: Sapphire ATI X800GTO2 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out DVI

VIDEO CARD COOLER: Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 5 (Rev.2) VGA GPU Cooler

HARD DRIVE: Western Digital Caviar SATA (WD800JD) 80GB 7200RPM 8MB Buffer

FLOPPY DRIVE: Sony 1.44 MB Black Floppy Drive

OPTICAL DRIVE 1:Lite-On SOHW-1693S 16x 8x / 16x 6x / 4x 4x / 16x + 48x 24x 48x (DVD+/-R9 Dual Layer) DVD-Rewriter Black

OPTICAL DRIVE 2: LITEON 16X DVD-ROM Black

CASE: Transformer Black Sunbeam Case No PSU

POWER SUPPLY: Enermax ELT500AWT Liberty 500W Active PFC

The question I have is about the last product there. Many people I ask about the power supply say that I would be find with 420W. The only reason I doubt them is because I am overclocking the Video card to hopefully X850 PE Speeds. Also I am planning on overclocking the CPU later on when I purchase a better CPU cooler. If I dont get the 500W Enermax, I was looking at the OCZ Powerstream 420W which is $30 less. Do you think saving $30 is better than having 80W more and a newer more compatible (i.e SLI/Crossfire) power supply?
Also, does i noticed there is a Rev. 2 of the OCZ memory with 2-2-2-5 timings instead of 2-3-2-5 timings. Are these improved timings worth an extra $50(Canadian Price)? Will I really notice the performance increase?

1. I can't get that fortron power supply because the stores I'm going to buy the parts at don't have fortron stuff, so which should I get outa the first 2?
2. Is the Rev. 2 better for Overclocking because you can OC it higher or because it's more reliable when it comes to OC'ing?

Get the enermax....i just dont like the 420W powerstreams...the 520s are nice.

I have seen the OCZ platinum Rav 2 OC to arund 320fsb....but a beginner will only get it to around 290maybe.

There are some general rules....you cn find out the wattages of each part and add....The problem isnt just wattage though. Your cpu and cpu are on the 12V rail.....so when you OC they will draw a lot of power from it. and if you have a weak 12V line then your computer will crash.

Thats why you need a good brand. Watts are partially important.....but A on the 12V rail is pretty important as well.

With the Rev 1.....i will guess and say 225. you will have to use a ram divider in your BIOS to get a decent OC.

Even overclocked sli rigs, when actaully measured only use about 380w or so, because every component is just not gonna hit max power draw at the exact same time. problem is, most psus dont actually even come close to their spec in terms of watts. the reason to get a brand name high wattage psu is because it is rated better, as in under more realistic conditions, it has better protection against voltage spikes and overload, and it will be quiter since it wont be as hot as a psu near its max.
