I am looking to upgrade a radeon 9700 pro agp card and have around $200 to spend. The card must be agp.

I found a radeon x850 pro for ~230 at best buy, and was wondering if it is a good card for the money? I am having a hard time figuring out how this card performs. Are there any others I should look at around 200? Thanks

In AGP, that price range is tough. $200 will buy you a Radeon X800GTO, which is a little below the X800 pro.

The X850 pro is a little above a X800 pro and a little below a X800XL. You can buy a X850XT which is much better, for $250 after rebate. The X850 pro from bestbuy isn't too bad a card for the money and would be a nice upgrade for you, but if you shop online you can do a better card for a few bucks more. Unfortunately, there really isn't a great $200 AGP card right now so I think it's better to spend the $230-250 on a better option.

Within a week or so, the Geforce 6800GS is supposed to show up in AGP. Not sure what the pricing will be from the start, but if it is down near $200 like the PCI-e version, that would be a great card as it's about equal to a 6800GT/X800XL. I'd suspect it will be more like $240 from the start though and the X850XT is still a better card.

Thanks for the input. I like that the pro has a sales price of 230 while the xt is 300 until the rebate gets here. I guess I will have to decide which is a better deal for me. Is microcenter a pretty good company? Their online reviews look ok but not great.
