The Disappearance of the BenQ DW-1640

Even Newegg does not carry it anymore. Why is it now so scarce? Did they stop making this drive to get ready for the next big thing? I'm leary of other vendor. I heard about DW1650 have not seen it for sales anywhere or a review on it.

Anybody have some inside information or just speculation.

Aside: Is there a difference (beside the color) between the black and cool grey version of the DW-1640?

They will be replaced by the DQ60, if I believe NCIX.com..

Looks like the BenQ DW1650 & DW1655 will be the replacements for the DW1640 instead. Can't wait for a review on these drives. I just hope they didn't cut any corners and instead build off the standard that the DW1640 has set. Let me know if you find a review.

Check out the Sony DRU-810A, it based on the BenQ DW1640, and from the reviews I've seen, it's an excellent drive. I have the DW1640 and it's most excellent. I hate recommending Sony, but got to go for performance over personal bias.
