I've got a Windows NT 4 server (SP 6a) with two partitions on a RAID 5
logical disk. The second partition is 12.9GB, and is reporting 276MB free
space and 12.6GB space used.

The amount of space used tallies with the amount of data the backup server
is backing up from that volume during a full backup.

However, enumerating the folders with SizeExplorer only yields folders with
a total size of 3.1GB.

Where's the remaining 9GB of data?

I've checked that I'm not hiding any files from the folder views.

Not sure I'm familiar with SizeExplorer, but I have gone on a few quests to
find errant disk space usage.

It's not pretty, but I find the following to be effective when I know (or
think I know) that I'm looking for a relatively large chunk:

Open an explorer window for the drive you are looking at (Dbl-click "My
Computer", then click the drive you want).
From the menu, select Tools->Folder Options
Select View Tab
Under "Hidden files and folders" select "Show hidden files and folders"
Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"
Click "OK" to closs the Folder Options dialog.
From the menu, select View->Status Bar (if it's already checked, skip this
step)

First the root directory, type CTRL-A to select everything, grab your handy
post-it and jot down the size shown in the second window of the status bar.
Click anywere in the window to deselect everything.

Now the fun part...for each folder (directory for us old school types),
right click and choose "Properties". Jot down the size and size on disk on
your post-it.

Continue through each folder.

Chances are you'll notice one of the folders is bigger than you suspect as
you travel through. I generally will then go into that folder and search
some more.

When I need to do serious clean up, I will often use other utilities, but
this simple method works anywhere regardless of what tools I have loaded.
