An competent Administrator would not have disabled
anything without a good reason.

I am having the same problem. I was wondering if you ever solved this
problem or does anyone have a better answer than the one posted. I am my
computer's administrator and in no way on purpose did I disable the task
manager. Any help to fix this would be great. Thanks.

Thank you very much for this help and believe me when I was trying to find
why was I unable to open the task manager as it has been disabled by me
(administrator), I do not know how in the world this would have happened when
I never made any chages whatsoever. Not only that but I tried to use restore
first and when I did that, my recent win xp security patches were deleted and
Microsoft installed them again. After this point, I found that there were
changes made to log-on, and a whole new window appeared giving various
options. I noticed right away there was something new which is to launch
task manager. Mine was greyed out. The link to Registry edits for win xp
was the solution. I had to download the patch and installed it which fixed
the problem. Once again, thank you, thank you, and thank you.
