I have two issues with an asus mypal 620.
1. I cannot power off the device manually using the on/off button. The
computer automatically powers off after a certain period of time.
2. I cannot soft reset the pocket pc. A hard reset will work though.

Some more details may help.
I have had a couple of occasions where my asus hasn't responded to the
on/off key but a soft reset has always sorted it. Does it work ok when hard
reset and the behaviour only happens when you restore the machine to its
previous position or install programs?
When and what you do before it recurs may be helpful, rather than a symptom
on its own.

From the beginning on the on/off button always worked only for some
days. After a soft reset it is okay again. I cannot tell when exactly it
is stopping working.
But now I cannot soft reset anymore. After a backup, hard reset and
restore the on/off button is working but the soft reset is not. I didn't
try without backup and restore but I will try this. I didn't install any
software between the last time I soft reset it and the time I found i
cannot anymore.
There's nothing special that I do with the pda, just the things you do
with a pda: mail, contacts, appointmnets, solitaire. The only additional
programs that I've installed are acrobat reader and the ia software that
came along with the device.

There is a program that can initiate a soft reset - if you try it and it
works it may suggest that the reset switch is no longer working.
Unfortunately I don't have my pda with me so can't give the name just at the
moment but will post it later when I can.
Unless someone else can give the name of the program in the meanwhile?

The button itsself is working (I can hard reset the device) therefor I
believe it is a software problem.
It would be nice if you could tell me the name of that program to reset
the pda. Otherwise I guess I can write a little program myself which
uses win ce api.
