Dual Channel Newbie, Adding 1G?

Newbie needs help with Dual Channel. I have bought a Persario 1630nx A64 3500+ that is populated with 2x256 sticks, with two slots open. So I want to add 1G, with 2x512 sticks. Do I need to move the current sticks out an replace them with the 512 sticks, then add the 256 in the other channel slots. Or can I just add the 512 sticks into the current open slots? Any recommendations on what 512 sticks to get for best results with this box? I hoping I don't have to go to HP for these.

You shuld just buy a value set of ram...corsair vaule 1GB kit (512x2) and throw that 512 away....(actually sell to friends, family or ebay for like 20bucks a dimm.)


If you use all 4 slots it will slow your computer down a little, and 1Gb is about all you need unless yuo do some very specific things. and gaming isn't one of them.....
