Looks like you have a higher version on the machine than the patch you
are trying to apply...

So how do I get the Microsoft update site to STOP telling me I need to apply
this update?

That is a much tougher question...



I would be inclined to uninstall whatever MDAC is currently installed
using the add remove programs applet.

then go to the following site

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/dataaccess.asp

figure out which update you need from there download and install it
manually.. (it isn't always the newest)

lots of programs will add or update parts of the MDAC stack when they
are installed, if this is the problem then this method should get you
back to a point that the Windows update site can deal with.
