I'm considering buying a SLi motherboard, but at the moment only have enough cash to put 1 card in it, either a 6600gt or a 6800. I'm wondering, will there be a reduction in performance compared to using a more standard motherboard with 1 card? My plan was to use it with 1 card, then when prices drop a bit more, or the card start to become a little slow, then buying a 2nd card and running in SLi. I don't really know much about this sorta stuff, so any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Tinny

You should see NO performance loss at all with an SLI motherboard.

It will also give you a better upgrade path (Graphics wise) in the future.

What board are you looking at ???
