MS apps don't work

I recently bought a Dell Axim X30.
Some MS applications don't work.
For example, I open Pocket Word. There is a list of documents I copied in
using Active Sync. But when I click on them with the stylus, the document
does not open.
Similarly, I open File Explorer, but touching folders with the stylus does
nothing but select or deselect the folder. Nothin I do gets a folder to
open.
But other apps work fine. For example, Adobe Acrobat Pocket Reader works
great. I start it, see a list of available files, toch the document with the
stylus, and it opens as expected.
Is it me, a seting, a defect?
I'm lost. Please help.

I'd try two things. A soft reset, and re-align the touch screen. The latter
is in Settings, Screen.
