Getting a new HD, and want to copy all my old data...

Ive got a Hd now that i think is about to go with all the grinding its making, so im going to get a new one. How would i go about copying completly everything (windows, programs, EVERYTHING) from the old HD to the new one?

If you dont want to buy software, some drive makers have there own imaging tools. I have never tried these as I use Ghost or True Image.

WD does, I suspect maxtor and seagate do as well.

ok, and with True Image, i can create an image of my entire HD like it says..

then can i remove my old HD and install the new one and place the image somehow?

I am getting a WD hard drive, but now it think im just going to clone all the data over with True Image

Try a program called CasperXP. In can be purchased online, and is probably the fastest and easiest programs I have ever used. It can even make a copy of your system drive while windows is running! And when its done, just swap the drives and you'll be back in business in five minutes.
