hi,

I am going to buy a notebook, acer aspire 5024wlmi. It is equipped with radeon x700 with 128MB od "shared memory", which is actually 0MB of its own memory, just using the ram from the motherboard.

Is there any way to expand the memory of this card, to buy memory modules and insert them somewhere?

Where are you getting that it's shared?

From Acer themselves it's not shared (although this is the 256MB version);

5024WLMi, AMD Turion ML34 (35W), Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition, 1024MB (2*512),
100GB, DVD Dual double layer, 15.4”WXGA Acer CrystalBrite TFT Display , 256MB ATI Mobility
Radeon X700, Gigabit Ethernet & 802.11b/g wireless LANB, 6-in-1 card reader, Li-Ion Battery, Acer
GridVista, Acer Arcade, MS-Works .

It's not shared memory but VRAM, which means it's on the card separate from the system memory.

In this review they have the 128MB version, once again descrete memory;

There is no way to add memory to them though, although I was able to unlock the full 128MB on my Gateway using the refrence ATi drivers instead of the Gateway locked drivers. 8)
