Ok, I am building my first gamimg system,
The specs i have are.

AMD 64 3200+ (Venice Core)
Epox EP-9NPA+ Ultra
1GB Corsair Value Ram (2x512mb)
500W Fortron Bluestorm PSU
XBlade Case
250GB ATA/133 IDE H/D
120GB ATA/133 IDE H/D

Now, i got the memory in a bundle with my Mobo,

Now, after reading some topics about overclocking it appears that i need Good ram to overclock.

I dont think the ram that came with the bundle is any good (link above). Will it be enough to overclock it to the 3500+?

If not, what ram do you suggest?

What are memory timings? and what are decent memory timings? I see things like 2-2-2-3, is that good? the lower the better?

If i do have to buy more ram, then i would have to buy it from a Uk Based website, seen as i am from Uk, so if possible, Please could you take a few minutes to have a look at these websites, and suggest Ram you think is good enough to overclock, but not too expensive.

Value ram doesn't generally overclock well - some will go to 205mhz, some to 215 or so. However, since you have an Athlon 64 system you should be able to run the memory on a divider so it runs slower than the fsb clock, giving your CPU some overclocking, but not really losing any performance (about 1% in real use).

There's a memory faq at the top of the section. Read it and it will tell you about timings. Basically lower is better, but it does get complex...

First thing I would do is clock up your CPU a little and see if it works. If you get 210mhz out of it you're doing pretty good on that ram. If it doesn't work overclocked, or you hit the RAM's limit (for example you get to 205mhz and it works, but not at 206), set the memory divider to 5:6 (some mobos show it as a memory speed, in that case go to 166) and clock up again.

If that still doesn't work well enough, then you do want better ram. Deal with that when the time comes...
