Socket 754 experiment

I'm a tightwad, lets get that up front and like the idea of putting together systems for sometimes half the cost that run as fast as "modern" systems. So I bought a socket 754 A643700 clawhammer $200 at tiger direct with motherboard which fried. slapped it in a DFI infinity socket 754 motherboard $75 and am using an enermax noistaker 480 watt power supply $60 with 2x512 sticks of Ultra low latency patriot ram "case 2" $125. running cpu and memory with modest overclock of 206 FSB for 2472 mgz. Using a XFX 7800 GT vid card with factory set overclocks I can play Battliefied 2 at 1024x768 with high detail on everything. But when I go to 1280x1024 I sometimes get some stuttering especially when first appearing after spawn. Is this a memory problem? not enough ram? Or is this what to expect off my hardware. I have orderd a third stick of patriot ram with same specs to raise total to 1.5 gigs of ram to try to fix the problem. The hard drive is a 300 gb maxtor sata drive. I'll let know how it turned out if no advice or answers are given.
