does my heatsink come with a thermal pad

i just bought a AMD athalon X2 and i was wondering if its stock heatsink came with a thermal pad or if i needed to buy sum thermal greese? can anyone help

thermal paste at radio shack can be had for a few bucks - i would go get some anyway - from all accounts it has better heat transfer than a thermal pad

One of the last articles I believed from THG showed that Intel's TIM outperformed everything else. (The AS would have caught up, perhaps if it had been allowed to cure)
The real point is, why spend a dime you dont get anything from.

If you're not going to futz with the processor much (you know, set it and forget it) then the pad is great. The performance of the pads is awesome. It's just the reusability that isn't.

But if you're going to seat, reseat, change coolers, or do goodness knows what, then AS5 is the way to go, with a good wipedown and fresh application each time.

I'd definately avoid RS. They're the K-Mart of technology. :lol: :lol: :lol:
