Hi - I have also posted this elsewhere, I hope nobody minds if I post here
as well :-)

I am using the Epson Stylus Photo 1280 printer and am generally
delighted with it. This is my second Epson Stylus Photo - I upgraded from
the 910. However, on both printers I have found an issue which is very
irritating. When I print borderless (ie. No Margins option selected) the
print head travels beyond the edge of the paper, depositing ink in the
printer itself. I'm sure I have made all the right selections before
printing and the pictures have been cropped to exactly the size of the paper
anyway. This is not only irritating - it is also worrying because I can't
imagine having ink deposits inside the printer is going to prolong it's
life. It also involves me using some absorbant paper to soak up as much of
the ink as possible after each print. The head doesn't travel far over the
edge - maybe a maximum of a centimetre - and it does it on the sides as well
as on the top and bottom. Has anybody else experienced this - and does
anybody know how to stop it?

Thanks

Other than adjusting the printer driver for custom operation, or
trimming larger sheets after the print comes out of the printer, pretty
much all "borderless printers" over spray.

The reason Epson now puts foam in the printing channel is just for this
reason, to absorb that oversprayed ink. I don't think any inkjet
printer is designed with such an accurate paper transport and head to
not do this to some extent. I would agree that a cm on each side seems
like a lot.
