1....good
2....good (not needed for games, if you only game get a single core and save some money but its your call)
3....you have an SLI mobo and one card. Get a NF4 Ultra chipset. there are many that are good depending on what you want to do....do you want to OC your system at all?
4....good
5....whatever
6....get the OCZ modstream or something different like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104954
7.....you dont need a RAID-0 for games. It will make levels load a little faster but you pay through the nose for it.
8.....excellent speakers!!!!

Yes I would like to overclock.I picked that mobo cause I like the features on it but if u know of 1 with those features and 1 PCI-E slot ok. I was thinking that mobo cause I might get another GTX but im not 100% sure.
I picked the RAID0 because I heard with the setup you get faster load times not in just games, seems like different forums have different answers
:?
Well If I dont need the Power Stream I wouldnt mind saving some money and getting the Modstream...but are u talking about the 520W one or the 450W one?
I wanted the 4400+ because I wanted to be futureproof
the PSU i listed is better then both OCZ ones.
RAID-0 will lower boot times in windows, but i am not rebooting all the time so it woudn't be needed. programs boot up faster but its from 9sec to 7seconds.
i dont personally see the need to spend that much money for that speed upgrade while double he risk of losing stuff on my computer.....its your computer, you get what you want...lol, i just dont see it as something thats needed for a gaming rig.
If you are going to OC get the 170Opteron (bascially a hand picked X2)....it will OC to 3Ghz on air pretty easy from everything i have seen....Also what cooling solution do you have in mind?
If you are going to OC you should get the PC4200 Crucial balistiz 2GB kit....it can get to 300FSB whch is better then 270fsb of the 2nd highest one i know about. The balistix is more....but it wont hold back your OC at all.
The Asus board is alrigh for you. I just dont prfer asus....i would get the EPoX board.
Only get the SLI board if you get two 7800's in the begining....if you do it for upgrades, you wont use it.

yeah, i guess its just opinion....I dont like the 450w one....i would only ever buy the 520W one...actually i almost did buy the 520W one.
I know the FSP one has 32A on the 12V rail....which is HUGE when you want to OC with SLI'd cards.
Also i know that FSP is ROCK SOLID.
I dont mean to say OCZ is a lesser psu overall but i like trhe FSP one better maingly because of the low cost and high performance.

Ok I changed some stuff around.
7800GT x2
AMD 4400+ (no changing, this is what I want)
1GIG OCZ platninum Rev 2
Asus A8N32-SLI
OCZ Modstream 520W
This Harddrive (only 1)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1682...
come to think of it this looks good to me, I can always get 2more gigs later and the processor is already pretty fast. What do you guys think?

Im not doubting that PSU u said is good but the price scares meJESUS CHRIST
If something is cheap it can't be good...lol
Pez is the shit and its like 10cents a pack.
If you want to spend more you can get a 500+ FSP,enermax, silverstone, OCZ modstream, or if you think price=performance look at PC Power and Cooling PSU's.....$200+ ones that are 500W
that price and it good? I dunno maybe good for a week?
also, scratch the OCZ Im getting this ram http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item... 8)
do u think 520W Modstream is enough for x2 GTs?

You know you are paying about $100 too much right?
OCZ VX ram is the same thing....and on newegg its around $140...LOL!!
Look around, i mention that PSU about 50times a day and not one person has said its a bad psu. some prefer others but none say its bad....
If you think price=quality....you are a moron.

most time thats what it is though, you pay cheap you get cheap. Not for everything though. Im gunna look up more about that PSU...
btw is this the ram you where talking about? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1682...

yup....read reviws from newegg and people have 2-2-2-5 timings at 250-260 easy but you need to be able to give it extra Voltage and the SFI board is the only one i know that can do that.

the A8N32-SLI " DDR: auto, 2.50-4.00V in 0.05V increments " wouldnt that do the job?
Yeah....that will work. the VX chips need 3.2-3.6v some chips like the full 3.6 some like 3.2
Like i said.....the only board i know of are the DFI ones.
But if you want to spend $260 for something a $115 board can do.....go for it.
Btw you know those dual 16x lanes dont do anything. two 7800GTX 512's cant fill the bandwidth of a single 8x channel....so i doubt you will have this mobo long enough t find tow cards that need 16x each....but your call.

actually it does look like the dual 16x lanes help...look at the scores in SLI on the A8N32-SLI board compared to the others http://techreport.com/reviews/2005q4/asus-a8n32-sli/ind...

also, for SLI can I use any brand as long as bother are 7800GT? I was thinking of getting one EVGA and one XFXCorrect...but they will use the settings of the crappier of the two. so save money by getting two slower ones because they will run slower anyway.
if you want faster ones...then get two faster ones.
srry I misread that article. the DFI nF4 SLI-DR is close to the Asus but there around the same price.
This is my system right now.
XFX GeForce7800GT OC 256MB x2
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Dual Core
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
OCZ Gold Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory
Gigabyte 3D Aurora Silver Aluminum Mid-Tower Case
OCZ (OCZ520ADJSLI) PowerStream 520 Watt Power Supply
Western Digital 250GIG SATA2 16MB
Im hoping 1gig will be good enough. I picked the dual core because I hate closing programs when having to play games or turning off my antivvirus. plus I wana play FFXI and CS:Source at the same time (I know this sounds weird)
now what do u think?

First off th DFI and Asus board are even at stock settings....2ndly the DFI board is roughtly $175 the Asus...$230. thats not the same price....lol
Your rig looks good. You can buy whatever you want, i just wanted to let you know the 16x lane per card doesn't matter.
You should be happy with this setup.

The best thing is that 4800+. Most people think they don't need it, but if you have abunch of Flash running in a browser when you start a game, you will get less speed with one core. Add Outlook and dual core is a blessing. I used to have to close all browsers and Outlook with a 3200+.
Nice system though. My current one is;
4400+
MSI SLI Platinum
2GB Corsair XMS
7800GT OC
250GB Seagate 7200.8
ANtec w TruePower 500
Hyundai L90D+
If you never want to hear your HD after coming out of Q4 or BF2, get 2GB RAM.
I LOVE IT.

Why do you have brower's open and 15 different programs open?
I love when people give examples like this, it makes me laugh. When i am not surfing i dont have browers open, and i dont use system hogging programs to begin with.
I dont need to play BF2 and then an hour into playing edit a picture in Photoshop then an hour of BF2 then render a pixar movie in the background.
yeah an X2 is nice, but your examples are horrible.

The point is that you don't need to close anything. Since I only suspend my machine it is always on and I never know what I may have open. Why do you think I meant "open Photoshop in the middle of a game?"
I said I used to have to turn things off before playing now I don't. I suie my computer for dev, test, graphics, etc and I like to be able to leave things open if I say get a great idea that means I have to open a different app. Just one Flash object will peak at 10-14% on my 4400+ If that happens when you enter a large room in a game........
