Hi Everyone

I know this is going to sound really stupid but it's driving me insane so if
anyone can tell me an answer, I'd very much appreciate it!

What it is, I have my own home laptop that has the windows key on it (on the
keyboard) and I use this all the time with the "M" key to minimize
everything. Now, my work's laptop is a bit older and doesn't have a Windows
key on it. This is whats driving me mad because I'm so used to using the
minimize all combo and its annoying me that I can't find a keyboard way of
doing this on my works puter.

I've tried everything I can think of to find a solution and have come a
blank, so thought I would try here as a last ditch attempt before I go
mental!! lol I know you're probably thinkin why don't I just use the Show
desktop icon on the screen, thing is I hate using the mouse and tend to do
nearly everything using keyboard combinations - it really throws me when I'm
in the middle of something and then I want to minimize everything and I
can't!! arrrggghhhh!!!

Please please please help me on this!! ;o)

Cheers
Lindsey

p.s. if it makes a diff, my works OS is Windows 2000.

Successful experiment here:

1.) Drag the "Show Desktop" icon to the desktop with the RIGHT
mouse button.
2.) When you release the mouse, you get a little context menu.
Select "Create Shortcut".
3.) Right-click on the new shortcut and select "Properties".
4.) Select the "Shortcut key" field.
5.) Set a shortcut key by pressing the desired key combo.

You might want to post to a Windows 2000 group if you don't get a
satisfactory response hear.

If you don't want to remap the keyboard by yourself or by a tool, there is no
substitute for this key.

However, the "genuine" way for your demand is

- give the focus to the taskbar
- press (left) Alt + M

This can be achieved by the key sequence:

(Ctrl + Esc) - (Esc) - (
Alt + M)

Five keys to press in all - but it works.

Hope this helps.

Ah, I've just realised the 2nd 'Esc' seems not to be needed:

(Ctrl + Esc) - (
Alt + M)

does the job as well.
