This is a great model that for some reason has not been advertised and
promoted enough.

It's not as complex or realistic as a PMDG model, granted, but it's very
well done, with attention to detail and it's a lot of fun to fly.

It's really worth it (especially since it's freeware)!

If you want a good MD-11 to play with, this is a keeper.

For the record, I didn't make it and I don't have anything to do with the
author of the model. I was looking for an alternative MD-11 model (I am not
too happy with the iFDG MD-11) and I found this one instead.

Could not agree more! Fantastic model freeware or otherwise. I stupidly
purchased an MD11 - can't remember its brand name but I got it through
fs2000.org - thinks Perfect flight maybe?? But anyway it was awful beyond
words and my complaint e-mail to the company went unaswered (shock horror!).
Went straight into the waste basket.

This model was easy to download, the setup went without a problem and the
MD-11 was ready to fly in minutes. If I can set up an add-on plane, anyone
can. This model flies like any of the default Boeings and makes a nice
change. If you can fly the default Triple 7, you can fly this sweetheart.
As the OP said, it is NOT designed for the fliers of PMDG aircraft. If I
had one problem, it was with the livery....but I can live with it.

Search Avsim etc.... there are one or two very nice repaints - I use the AA
one.

I've had the Overland MD-11 since it was first released. It is indeed a
very nice model, and "fun to fly." ;)

I blew that livery out right away and installed the AA livery. It's much
nicer looking... ;)

I'm a stout-hearted guy (with a few other stout parts), but for the life of
me, I cannot get the AA livery to install on the MD-11. I downloaded the
livery designed for this model, and followed the configuration instructions,
but the plane still shows as the original white and yellow one.

Sooooooooo.........will you Bill, or some other kind soul PLEASE tell me how
to make my MD-11 show up in American Airlines livery, or I swear, I'm gonna
kill it (hmmm........that's been used before). I want to know how to blow
the old livery away..I can't make it an AA plane : (

If you truly don't care about the original "Overland" livery, simply copy
all the AA textures into the default \texture folder and overwrite the
originals... ;)

OTOH, the "proper way" to *add* a livery is to:

a) Right Click on the \texture folder and Click Copy, followed by Paste.
Rename the copied folder to \texture.AA (substitute whatever you need after
the period (.) to identify the new livery)

b) Copy all the new livery's textures into the new \texture.AA folder

c) Edit the aircraft.cfg file to add the new entry as follows:
