For those of you who fly in Canada, you won't see the big, green happy face
on JetsGo MD80's anymore. This morning, the 'cut-rate' airline went belly
up, stranding thousands of March-break passengers, people trying to get back
home, and put 3,000 staff out of work. This includes pilots-in-training who
put a $30,000 bond on their courses and who may never see that money again.
I was suspicious of the airline when I heard a radio ad for them last week,
offering a fare of ONE DOLLAR from Toronto to Vancouver. I thought the price
was somewhat cheap and would guess that some of the people who took
advantage of the offer will be looking for a residence on the west coast.
Funny the stories we hear about the airline now. The chairman of the board
is the same guy who was in charge of Canada 3000 which went tits-up some
time ago. Gotta wonder about stuff like that. Also heard from some
passengers who related stories that their JetsGo flight was so low on fuel
when it reached its destination, it had to be towed to the gate. Another
person said their plane was requested to do a go-around and couldn't due to
the low fuel level. The government even restricted JetsGo's altitude levels
due to poor flight manuals (I'm not too clear on what that means, but it
doesn't sound good).
I'm going to miss the airline, although I never used it. I really did like
the livery on those MD80's with the smiley faces. : )

I was not looking for my dreams to interpret my life, but for my life to
interpret my dreams.
