Graphics card for a laptop

I will be purchasing a laptop. I would like to use it for some gaming, internet, and general applications. If someone can help me make my decision. I know the Geforce 6800 is expensive so I would like to avoid buying that one at all costs, so I am curious if the other 2 are good enouph?

ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M

OR

128MB DDR ATI's MOBILITY™ RADEON X300 PCI Express x16 Graphics

OR

256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800 (EXPENSIVE)

What kind of gaming?

For some older titles either of the first two will be fine. For newer titles you'll want at least an X700 level card.

The GF6800 is better still.

The all new mobileX1600 better still.

Then the X800

Then the GF6800U.

Then the extremey rare X800XT

And then the GF7800GTX is the top of the line.

The mobileX1800 isn't out for a bit so no one knows where it will sit.


Anywhoo, like I said it all depends on the games you wish to play.

Well I currently own:

Dell Inspiron 9300
intel 1.83ghz centrino
Geforce 6800 256 GT
1gb 533mhz RAM
60GB HD

This system kicks some ass in games. I can play CS:S at 1024x768 res, 2xaa 8xaf, all details to high, and still pull off 65 fps consistently. The only game that I've really encountered performance issues in was Battlefield 2, but even my desktop gets lagged in that game so I don't know.

But I don't regret the extra money for this chipset. One thing I do regret is not waiting for the 7800 Ultra chipset to come out for the XPS systems.

The XPS system has the Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900 video card. So why do u regret it, is it bad? is the XPS better than insparation?

The XPS actually has an option to be equipped with the geforce 7800 ultra 256mb The XPS series for desktop and laptop are the flag ship for Dell in the gaming genre.

If you're a gamer I would consider the X600 a BARE MINIMUM.

Especially if you're used to a 6800GT on your desktop.

X700, X1600, X800, 6800, and 7800 mobile GPUs would be better if gaming is on your to-do list with the laptop.
