A little Trivia: had the running of the Stradbroke Handicap (My state's biggest annual race feature) at my city's track - Eagle Farm - and the winner, La Montagna, paid a juicy 11-1 which in Yankee odds is $22 what given your minimum wager is oddly placed at $2.
I had her picked 6 weeks ago and was the toast of the track yesterday when she scored by a length. Didn't back another winner all day mind you but whoever picks the winner of the big one is shouted all night by the lads so I was absolutely roasted by 2am which is a solid effort given that it was a champagne breakfast at 8:30am.
Pity about the focking inclement weather though; pissed down most of the afternoon. Not to worry, we were at the bar for most of it anyways. 8)
Yea ... I liked SteppenWolfer in that race too. I didn't post a thread because I felt like I jinked that beautiful colt Barbaro in the Preakness. Man, I've been checking his progress every day - I even sent a card ... go figure. I haven't had a horse effect me this way since I had my horse put down.
But good news. Today this:
Quote :
KENNETT SQUARE, Pa. - Barbaro had the cast replaced on his shattered right hind leg Tuesday, another huge stride in the recovery of the Kentucky Derby winner who suffered a life-threatening injury at the Preakness.... ‘‘His leg looks excellent,” Richardson said in the statement. ‘‘The incision has healed well and judging by the radiographs, the graft is opacifying (taking). Callus is forming nicely, and all of the implants look unchanged.”
