Which motherboard for AMD64! please suggest!

HI guys..

I'm going for a system with AMD64 preferebly San-diego.
I need some suggestions about a good motherboard. Sorry guys I'm not good in computer hardware stuff. And also a big thank for u guys for helping me to chose between Intel and AMD.


Anyway guys I was loking through the forum on Gigabyte mobo and seems they have some problems..! but when I looked in the Gigabyte site, they seem to have pretty impressive features.

Guys I need a good motherboard that can handle good memory management as I iwll be running simulation program like Matlab.

Please guys.. Help me out a bit..!

GB are good. Take one with no hesitation.
Anyway, you can always take an equivalent one from Asus you know+)

Asus, DFI, or Epox are the only ones I would get.

There are several out there from different manufacturers. But I ended up going with an Asus A8N5X and have had it for about a month and I am so far extremely happy with it.

Asus seems to be the favorite (hell i like mine).
If your getting a new processor, my suggestion would be to get this:

Before it goes out of stock. They OC like MAD!!!!! on stock voltages. And a lot of them are getting 3ghz (with a good stepping like the 530's but you can't find them anymore, but the 543/544 were also good, i think)

Asus are Average boards at above average prices.

Abit or Epox would usually be a better bang for buck purchase.

I'm gonna say Epox too. I bought the EP-9NPA+Ultra and it has been rock solid. The setup was easy and there are a lot of options to play around with.

i'm looking at buying that same board. what cpu and memory did you use with it to get such satisfactory results? did you oc it?

148 Opteron and G.Skill 2x512 PC3200 kit (TCCD). I'm pretty new to OC'ing but I have it running right now at 2640Mhz (240 x 11) on stock air. My max temp is 40C. Oh yeah and my memory timings are 2.5 4 4 8 @ 2.8V
