hi there, i'm either going to get the Asus A8N32-SLI delux or the DFI LANPARTY UT NF4 SLI-DR Expert. both have raid that allows spanning across both SATA and IDE. can you have a raid volume using IDE drives and another raid volume using SATA drives? or can you only have one raid volume?

You can have as many raid volumes as each chip supports. In this case the A8N32-SLI supports up to 4 volumes because it has 2 RAID controllers. Both boards support the use of PATA and SATA RAID at the same time. So the answer is yes, you can have an IDE and SATA RAID volumes at the same time.
